Not ashamed of my height, are you?

Here is a post from twitter the other day:

QUEEEN.@ChynaSafriah_
Lol this nigga got in his instagram bio '5'5 like that's something a grown man should be advertising 😔

So this woman, like so many others, thinks a short man should be ashamed of his height.  I guess they still don't have enough brains to realize that height is out of our control and that they probably shouldn't be judging people on their appearances when they don't want to be judged on theirs.

So...I am going to advertise it!!!

Gay slur on Twitter = 50k fine. Short men bashing: acceptable

Well, the latest story of some groups getting protection on Twitter, while short people continue to get trashed and threatened in the same manner, involves Amare Stoudemire of the New York Knicks.

A few days ago, a fan sent Mr Stoudemire a tweet apparently criticizing his play and Mr Stoudemire responded by using some offensive language towards the gay community.  These were direct messages and the fan then revealed the Knick forward's comments.  When the NBA found out about this,  he was fined $50,000.  The NBA has come down hard on comments against members of the gay community;  Kobe Bryant was fined $100,000 for his gay slur.

However, how many of us have seen similar comments directed at  the short statured and people, I am sure, are anything but vigilant in reprimanding the perpetrators of those hateful comments.  Let's see:  Would you say "Short men should be lynched!" is hateful?  How about "Short people should be stepping stools!",  "I hate short people",  "I will stomp on short men", "Men should spend a year in prison for every inch under 5'9" they are."  "Short men should be illegal."?   The scary thing is, these could be people we work with or even our bosses, friends or family (hiding through anonymity).

I find it sickening how society is constantly preaching tolerance and equality for all but then turns around and joins in the fun as they engage in their hypocritical hatred of short people!

North Korea wanted to rid itself of short people

A couple of weeks ago, I stumbled across some rather troubling information involving the treatment of short people in North Korea during Kim Jong Il's tumultuous reign.  While it didn't surprise me, it was and is still disturbing to think about.

A portion of a memoir about Kim Jong Il was included in Foreign Policy Magazine dated September 1st of 2008; a story which was penned by his former tutor Professor Kim Hyun Sik.

Back in 1989, a few months after the Olympics were held in South Korea in 1988, the government of North Korea had decided to get rid of its "substandard" people.  They moved them out of the capital and even shipped the shorter ones off to uninhabited islands so that they couldn't reproduce and spread their "undesirable" genes.

Here is a portion of the memoir:

All of which is bad news for those who don't fit into Kim Jong Il's ideal of a healthy, vital citizenry. In the people's paradise that is North Korea, disabled -- even short -- people are considered subhuman. In 1989, Pyongyang hosted the World Festival of Youth and Students. In preparing for the international gathering, the entire nation was encouraged to outdo South Korea's hosting of the Summer Olympic Games the year before. Pyongyang's event had to be bigger and more glamorous. One such method was to purify the revolutionary capital of Pyongyang of disabled people.
Six months before the festival, the government rounded up all disabled residents of Pyongyang and sent them away from the capital to remote villages. The majority were clockmakers, seal engravers, locksmiths, and cobblers who made their living in the city. Overnight, they were forcibly deprived of the lives they had known.
I saw this policy of "purification" up close. I have an old friend who, upon graduation from the Pyongyang University of Medicine, built a career in the state Academy of Medical Science. We were classmates at Heungnam High School and fought together in the Korean War. We were like brothers. One day during May 1989, he visited me at home looking deeply upset.
"What's troubling you? You look very distressed," I said to my friend.
"Well, I'm OK, I guess... but I've done a terrible thing. An abhorrent thing."
"What do you mean? You aren't a bad person."
His eyes welled with tears.
"I have made cripples out of normal, healthy people and sent them away for good," he said. "It is inhumane, what I have done. I shall never be able to hold my head up again."
My friend, a well-connected physician at the time, told me that he had been ordered by the Communist Party to pick out the shortest residents of Pyongyang and South Pyongan province. Against his conscience, he went out to those areas and had local party representatives distribute propaganda pamphlets. They claimed that the state had developed a drug that could raise a person's height and was recruiting people to receive the new treatment. In just two days, thousands gathered to take the new drug.
My friend explained how he picked out the shortest among the large group. He told the crowd that the drug would best take effect when consumed regularly in an environment with clean air. The people willingly, and without the slightest suspicion, hopped aboard two ships -- women in one, men in the other. Separately, they were sent away to different uninhabited islands in an attempt to end their "substandard" genes from repeating in a new generation. Left for dead, none of the people made it back home. They were forced to spend the rest of their lives separated from their families and far from civilization.
A very troubling revelation.  This was a blatant act of genocide! North Korea didn't want short people around so it got rid of them.  Anyone wonder if the United Nations intervened?  Obviously not.

Believe it, many feel this way about us shorter people that we are all "substandard".  If twitter is any indication, they would like nothing more than to have us removed from society.  Yet, they will, at the same time, claim that they are the most tolerant and open minded people to ever exist.

The tragedy of Joel Morales

Joel Morales was a short and intelligent twelve year old boy who lived in East Harlem.   He tragically took his own life on May 29, 2012 after being ruthlessly tormented about his shortness, lofty IQ and the fact that his father passed away a few years ago (really cruel).

From the reports I read, he was a nice kid that stayed out of trouble and was seemingly well liked, save for the bullies that targeted him and hunted him down where he lived.

His mother had him transferred to a different school after the incessant bullying and repeated complaints to the school.  The principal had an intervention (supposedly) with Joel and his family  along with the bullies and their parents to get the bullying to stop; it did, but only temporarily.

Joel stood about 4'9" and people say he looked like he was eight instead of twelve.  So that, along with his passive, nice demeanor, made him the target of these kids.(Apparently, short and nice  represents weak in these kids eyes).  They had followed him to his new school, showed up at his door to pummel him with rocks, a pipe and taunted him about the loss of his father.

Apparently, not enough was done to protect him, though his family did what they could; including taking out a restraining order/order of protection and trying to move out of the housing they were in but were denied.

Sadly, Joel's story will disappear from the eye of the media, as do most bullying stories pertained to children who don't fall under the heading of a protected class.  The indifference on the part of the media makes me sick.  Where's the outrage when it comes to the short and overweight being bullied?  I am sorry but it is just not there.  The national media and the nation erupted over Tyler Clementi, Jamey Rodemeyer and Phoebe Prince.  Yet, not the same reaction when Daniel Scruggs or Jon Carmichael were lost to bullying.  The same will end up happening here too.  That apathy, not only on the media's part but society's as well, is probably a contributing factor as to why this happens in the first place.

That is almost as tragic as the loss of Joel Morales.

If Mitt had cut a short person's hair....

...there is no doubt in my mind that the incident the Washington Post  mentioned this past week would have never seen the light of day.   Society, as we all know too well, doesn't care about appearance based bullying.  The short and overweight aren't powerful enough to have any political influence on anything; so, that should explain the indifference to our dilemma.

Yet, the story of the bullying of a kid fifty years ago, who turned out to be gay, has arisen and much to the displeasure of the family of the victim of the incident (who has since passed away).  Of course, President Obama's recent endorsement of gay marriage no doubt had a hand in this story being published.   Yes, of course it was wrong, as is all bullying right?(or should be anyway)  Still, this happened fifty years ago!

Is the Post going to now print the story of how then (meaning forty years ago) Barack Obama pushed a girl named Coretta (as he stated in is autobiography) who was "plump and dark and had no friends".  This incident occurred at a prep school in Hawaii.    Yes, the same Barack Obama who is now a staunch advocate of anti-bullying measures.  Perhaps this story should have been brought to light a number of months ago when he was speaking out against bullying?  This story, just like Mitt Romney's, is just as applicable and relevant, seeing as how the GOP is being labeled as woman hating.

If Jason Horowitz (the writer of the Romney piece) is going to bring out the GOP nominee's past indiscretions and the fact that the person he bullied was gay, it would seem only fair if he pointed out President Obama's past then too and the fact that he bullied a girl;  a "plump and dark girl".

But then again, Coretta was an overweight girl, so I guess she didn't/doesn't deserve the same justice and equal rights as someone who is gay.. right Mr Horowitz?

Heightism: Alive and well!

Well, if Twitter is any indication, there is much hatred and animosity of short people out there; especially short men.

Of course, any objection raised by myself or any other advocate for short people gets us verbally abused (yep, you have to be a real tough guy to cuss and threaten on Twitter don't ya..lol).  Warning - offensive language! these are some of the names I have been called by the scum on this social network:  "faggot"..."a fuckin jew" ...just for starters.  I am not gay and I am not jewish either but that language is uncalled for and hate speech if I ever saw it.

This is what awaits us that want to challenge the status quo out there, that wants to call people on their contempt and bigotry.   Soon, those that hate short people just may be given a reason to do so, other than the fact that we don't meet their physical definition of what they find acceptable.

The hypocrisy and double standards really upset me.  If similar language was directed at these people, they would be screaming racism and sexism.  When I ask them how they would feel in the same situation, they don't answer the question.  They respond with "get off my twitter " or something else to evade the question.  They don't answer because they know the answer, as we all do; they wouldn't like it either!!  Except, they would be calling the likes of Sharpton or NOW, claiming prejudice and hate speech.  Yet. they are real quick to bash short people aren't they?  Why can't they show the tolerance that they preach so loudly for?

I am frankly disgusted and fed up with these hypocrites!  What a stain on society!  If these people really feel this way, how much more hatred is out there?  Sickening!!

White teen in Kansas City burned by two blacks for...being white

So, has anyone heard about this case?  Has it garnered national attention?  Everyone has no doubt heard about Trayvon Martin in Florida a month ago.  The New Black Panther party has put out a bounty on George Zimmerman..(Isn't that a crime of some kind)?  Oh wait, Eric Holder won't prosecute black on white crime.

I guess that is why when this thirteen year old in Kansas City was burned by two black kids for being white, it hasn't enraged too many people!  Amazing!   Where's the outrage?  That is a hate crime right?
Targeting someone because of their race?  What the hell?

Here's an article about it!  http://articles.nydailynews.com/2012-03-04/news/31122324_1_white-boy-fire-tv-station

Traits of short men vs tall men!

Any characteristics that a short man possesses will be unfairly ridiculed and mocked by society; yet, tall men will be lauded and admired for exhibiting the same traits!

Insulting women: a no-no; Insulting short men: acceptable!

After this woman from Georgetown University said that she wanted taxpayers to help fund her contraception at a cost of $1000/yr,  Rush Limbaugh was talking about it on his radio program and
called her a "slut".    He has since apologized for the reference, afraid that advertisers would pull back their ads from his broadcast.

Yet, how funny it is that these women who are objecting to Rush's characterization, undoubtedly have no issue with insulting short men.  Calling us "midgets" (very offensive)  "undesirable" and "not really men" citing their first amendment right to freedom of speech. Sadly, insulting short men is actually a lucrative practice these days; it is encouraged and applauded.

  Sickening!!

20/20 segment on limb-lengthening fails to tell the whole story

Well...the other night on the ABC news program 20/20, which mostly talked about cosmetic procedures, there was about a six minute segment for the men and they devoted about 3:45 of it to the issue of limb-lengthening (gee...thanks ABC).

I was very disappointed due to the fact that 1) they only spoke to two men about this procedure;  2) they didn't get both sides of the story and 3) they referred to men who have an issue with their heights as having a mental disorder called "height dysphoria", which can conveniently enough be "cured" by limb -lengthening (so says Dr Paley).

So, you mean to tell me that if I were to go get my legs broken and lengthened, that I will never see or hear height discrimination again Dr Paley?  Women will somehow, magically be receptive towards all  short men...lol?  Because, apparently, it is all in our heads...right?  I think it is the women, who hate short men for no logical reason, with the mental disorder.

Perhaps Dr Paley then thinks that all blacks must have a mental impairment because they don't like racism?  "Hey, come on in and see me, Dr Paley, and I will wipe that chip off your shoulder that you have had since being treated as 3rd class citizens.  Get your skin whitened and that anger and frustration will evaporate."

Say Dr Paley, why stop there?  Let's all be tall white males, like you, and there will never be any discrimination or "mental disorders" again!

Women have such hatred toward short men...

...that if they had to choose between a short, single man standing right next to them or a tall man standing on the other side of a field they had to cross covered in broken glass, snakes everywhere and he was married, she would still cross the field.

Inconsistent hate crime law in Philly

Last week, in Philadelphia, a group of black teens surrounded a cab with a white driver and passenger inside.  They then proceeded to assault the occupants yelling racial epithets as they did so.  The passenger was able to escape, while the driver got his tire iron from the trunk and the teens ran off, only to be found later and arrested.  However, they won't be charged with a hate crime because apparently they didn't tell someone else in advance that they had intended on attacking a white person.  These are the words of Tasha Jamerson, spokeswoman for the DA's office... "They just didn't have that in this case," she said. "If they had somebody who, two blocks before, heard them say, 'We're going to beat somebody up because they're white, brown or purple,' it might be different."...I am sorry but had three whites attacked two blacks under the same cicumstances, yelling racial epithets as they attacked, it would be a different story.

Yet, this incident Was labeled a hate crime...in the same city...  A group of Christians protesting a homosexual event in Philadelphia are being charged with a hate crime.  They didn't assault anyone, just voiced their opinion...

Hating short men...okay; Hating any other group will get you fined

...So, if you haven't yet figured it out, Twitter is the new haven for short men bashing and hating. These women have no scruples or inhibitions about their disdain for short men.  The most amazing set of double standards you will ever see...  Have a look at the hatred....

BlowME.
I hate hate hate hate short guys, it's just so unattractive 😝

Becky King
What's with all the short guys? I feel like all men are short. No guy should be short..... in any department that is. Most cases = shame

However,...if someone were to say the same things about black people or gays, well...see for yourself...

How is writing an opinion piece bullying?

...well, the truth is, it isn't but don't tell that to superintendent Todd "Perez Hilton" Carlson of the Shawano school district in Wisconsin.

As much as I hate bullying and intolerance, this just isn't one of those instances.   A 15 year old by the name of Brandon Wegner was asked to write an op-ed piece for his school (Shawano High School) newspaper about gay adoption.  There were two sides of the issue given and he wrote the piece which opposed this form of adoption citing Scripture. I say again, he was asked by the school to give his opinion!

Well, as it turns out, some didn't agree with his opinion and a gay couple who has a child attending the school complained.   The result:  Brandon had to visit the superintendent and was threatened with a suspension for his opinion and subsequently asked to recant his views but he didn't.  The school, however, issued an apology and said that his comments were "disrespectful and a form of bullying."
Say what?

If anyone was guilty of bullying, it was the superintendent who denounced Brandon's opinions (which he was asked to give) and subjected him to intimidating statements about how he could suspend him if he didn't apologize for his view on gay adoption!

Doesn't this sound somewhat familiar?  Anyone remember the Miss California incident from a couple of years ago when Carrie Prejean answered a question posed by a judge...Perez Hilton...regarding gay marriage?    She was asked her opinion and gave it but certain people didn't like it, so they responded by raking her over the coals and removing her of her crown.   Mr Hilton responded with an intolerant, sexist rant of his own on YouTube.    Perhaps Mr. Carlson is a fan of his or something.

I believe that Mr Wegner was set up.  They probably knew what his opinion would be and asked him to write the piece so they could have an excuse to harass him.  The school should be the ones to eat crow, they are the idiots who chose the subject in the first place!

This brought to mind something that happened to me a number of years ago.  I was involved in a theatre production in San Diego entitled "Sing On".  One evening, one of the cast members was absent so I was asked to read his part by the director.   I obliged and read his lines, which had consisted of making remarks about the weight of one of the other characters.  After the scene was over, the director confronted me off stage and told me that I was an asshole because he thought I was being mean when I read the lines.  He forgot, I guess, that I didn't write the script...lol!  The guy clearly didn't like me, nor I him, so he was chomping at the bit to come after me.  He asked me to do something, I did it, and the cry baby then villified me for doing it...how does that work?  This incident in Wisconsin was no different.

Bullying is not giving your opinion when asked for it! That trivializes the issue.  Bullying is what Todd Carlson did; using his power to try and intimidate someone.  Bullying is when you target an individual with hateful remarks, go online and harass them, ostracize them at achool and verbally or physically injure or abuse them.  Brandon Wegner did not attack an individual, he merely disagreed with a lifestyle; a view point he was asked to give.

As a short man: Either I have a complex or I am weak!

Being a short man in today's height worshipping, look oriented society is definitely a difficult thing to deal with; it just seems that no matter what you do or don't do, society will always attach a negative label to you.  These same traits would make society swoon for a taller man.

As a short man, I have a complex if I:
  • Work out
  • Drive a nice car or truck
  • Am successful
  • Take charge
  • Wear lifts in my shoes
  • Date a taller woman  (because I guess dating her makes me taller somehow)
  • Date a shorter woman  (because I will look taller)
  • Try to play any sport
  • Show any confidence whatsoever (confident short guys are seen as arrogant)
  • Am friends with a taller guy (it makes me a self-hating short guy I guess)
  • Stand up for myself

However I am weak if I:

  •   do not work out
  •    wear regular shoes which don't boost my height (which then invites criticism)
  •    am working in a submissive, subordinate position and show no ambition
  •    don't date anyone
  •    instead of sports, I choose a less physical activity
  •    am shy or withdrawn
  •    am friends with a taller guy (because he is apparently seen as my bodyguard and his size dwarfs me)
  •    am friends with a guy my height (now I am supposedly desperate)
  •    have no friends
  •    don't hit a woman who may deserve it (even though she thinks she can kick my short ass)
  •    don't engage in cofrontation

As you can see, any action or inaction by a short man  always invites a negative reaction by members of this sorry excuse for society.  This list is just an abbreviation.

Of course, I scoff at these stupid generalizations made by so many.  These people worship the likes of the Kardashians and kids running around acting like asses on the shores of New Jersey.

People can label me however they choose but all it will do is motivate me more to fight their prejudicial, judgemental bull shit and I will laugh at them louder and louder the more ridiculous they get!

Twitter: Heightism's new domain

Well...I hate to say it but...

Heightism is once again rearing it's ugly head now through social media.  If it is not short/small kids being harassed through Facebook by their "tolerant" classmates it is short men being dissed on twitter by many...especially women.   Yet, these same women will bitch and ridicule men for the same attitudes towards themselves.

Go to:  https://twitter.com/#!/antiheightism or just enter "short guys" into the search field on your home page and see all the "tolerant" comments emerge!

I wonder what the reaction would be had these people made the same disparaging comments about blacks or gays?   They may even be fired for those but short man bashing....acceptable.

Tell me again how society is progressing into a tolerant and "we are all equal" mindset.  Bullshit it is!
