Is it ok to use the word "midget"

The Little People of America (LPA) have asked the USDA to remove the word "midget" from its raisins.

Personally, I am also offended by the word "midget" but when it is used in a condescending manner to refer to a person of shorter stature or a little person.  People need to know that there is no positive correlation with the word; it is offensive, vulgar and dehumanizing.  When directing it at someone, you may as well be spitting on them!

However, in this case, it is not referring to people but an object: the raisin.  So, if the media and society at large is going to come out and say that little people are being too pc and/or are overly sensitive about this issue, then they must be ok with referring to cigarettes as "faggots" and female dogs as "bitches" right?  After all, you aren't referring to humans in those cases?  Or, if they are going to say that you can't use those terms, then you can't use midgets either to describe a raisin.   Let's be fair about it  and not do the double standard thing again.

You can't fight offensive terms towards some groups and then allow it when it is directed at others!
